PECERA KOREA 회원 여러분께

Pacific Early Childhood Education Research Association(PECERA)는 2000년 환태평양지역 여러 국가의 영유아교육학자들이 모여 출생~8세 어린이들을 위한 교육/보육의 발전을 도모하기 위해 설립되었습니다. 현재 뉴질랜드, 대만, 대한민국, 말레이시아, 싱가폴, 인도네시아, 일본, 중국, 태국, 필리핀, 호주, 홍콩 등 총 12개 회원국이 정회원국으로 참여하고 있으며, 그 외 여러 국가에서도 매년 개최되는 페세라 국제학술대회에 참가하여 세계적 석학들과 함께 활발한 학술적 교류를 하고 있습니다.

PECERA KOREA는 PECERA의 한국 지부로서 2000년 PECERA가 설립되었을 때부터 핵심적 역할을 담당해 왔습니다. 이원영 교수님(중앙대학교 명예교수)께서 PECERA 본부의 제 2대 회장을 역임하셨고, 이영자 교수님(덕성여자대학교 명예교수)께서 PECERA 저널(APJRECE)의 초대 Editor로 활동하셨습니다. 현재도 상당수의 PECERA KOREA 회원들이 PECERA 국제학회와 저널편집진으로 활발히 활동하고 있습니다.

PECERA 본부에서는 매년 하절기에 국제학술대회를 개최해 전 세계 영유아교육학자 및 현장에 있는 교사들에게 영유아교육/보육 관련 최근의 이슈를 중심으로 활발한 연구발표를 할 수 있는 장을 마련하고 있습니다. 국제학술대회는 각 회원국에서 돌아가며 개최하고 있고, 매해 우리나라의 회원들이 대거 참여해 연구결과를 발표하고 있습니다. 2006년과 2013년에는 우리나라에서도 PECERA 국제학술대회가 성황리에 개최된 바 있고, 2029년도에 다시 PECERA 국제학술대회를 우리나라에서 개최하고자 준비하고 있습니다.

PECERA는 전 세계 학자들과 연구자들이 참여하는 국제학술지인 Asia-Pacific Journal of Research in Early Childhood Education(AJRECE)을 1년에 3회 출판하여 연구자간 국제 네트워크를 형성하고, 영유아교육보육 분야에서의 수준 높은 학술연구 정보를 제공하고 있습니다. APJRECE는 2018년에 세계적인 온라인 데이터베이스 중 하나인 SCOPUS에 등재되었습니다. 이로써 영유아교육/보육 분야의 연구 학회로서의 PECERA의 명성과 위상은 더욱더 공고히 될 것으로 확신합니다. 앞으로 PECERA KOREA는 국내·외에서 미래지향적인 영유아교육/보육의 방향을 제시하고 발전시키는 역할에 최선을 다할 것입니다. 또한 이 땅의 미래인 우리 어린이들을 위해, 좋은 교육 환경을 만들고, 전 세계 영유아교육을 담당하고 있는 학계와 현장을 더욱 가깝게 연결하도록 노력하겠습니다.

Chairman’s Greeting

To the Members of PECERA Korea,

The Pacific Early Childhood Education Research Association (PECERA) was established in 2000 to promote the development of early childhood education and care across countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Currently, 12 countries—including Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, China, the Philippines, Australia, and New Zealand—participate as official member countries. Scholars from many other countries also attend the annual PECERA International Conference, actively engaging in academic exchange with researchers from around the world.

PECERA Korea, as the Korean branch of PECERA, has played a pivotal role since the establishment of PECERA in 2000. Distinguished scholars from universities in Korea have served as presidents of PECERA, and many Korean professors have contributed to the academic community by serving as editors of the Asia-Pacific Journal of Research in Early Childhood Education (AJRECE), PECERA’s official journal. Currently, many PECERA Korea members are actively participating as members of the editorial board of PECERA’s international journal.

The PECERA headquarters organizes an international conference every summer, providing a forum where early childhood education researchers and practitioners from around the world can present and discuss research on the latest issues in early childhood education and care. These conferences have been held in various countries each year. In Korea, PECERA international conferences were successfully hosted in 2006 and 2013, and preparations are underway to host the PECERA international conference again in 2029.

PECERA publishes the Asia-Pacific Journal of Research in Early Childhood Education (AJRECE) three times a year, enabling scholars and researchers from around the world to build international research networks and share new academic findings in the field of early childhood education and care. In addition, PECERA began publishing APJEREC in 2018, which has now been indexed in SCOPUS. Through these efforts, PECERA’s reputation and standing as a leading international academic association in early childhood education and care continue to grow.

Looking ahead, PECERA Korea will strive to present future-oriented directions for early childhood education and care both domestically and internationally. We will work to connect academic research with educational practice, fostering innovative educational environments and ensuring that early childhood education researchers and practitioners around the world can collaborate more closely.
